Income Related Monthly Adjustment IRMA:
Higher earners pay more for Part B and Part D!
For 2017, the standard Part B premium amount is $134
Unless you are a high earner (see IRMA chart).
Medicare recipients receiving Social Security benefits PRIOR to 2016 will pay $109 for their Part B premium. This is because there was a cost of living increase for 2017 of 0.3% in Social Security benefits.
You'll pay a different amount for your Part B if:
-
You enrolled in Part B for the very first time in 2017
-
You don't get Social Security benefits
-
You are directly billed for your Part B premiums.
-
You have both Medicare and Medicaid and Medicaid pays your premiums. Your state will pay the standard premium amount of $134.
-
Your modified adjusted gross income as reported on your IRS tax returns from 2 years ago was above a certain amount (see chart).
